A Walk Through Pizza Shack History (1974 and Onward)
For our 1st year of business, 134 E. Jefferson St. in Tipton
was our home. What started out as a part-time business venture quickly
turned into our full time career. With solid customer support beginning on
that opening night in August of 1974, we have continued to grow and expand.
By the following year, we located a new site for expansion at
133 Ash St. After remodeling the building, which had housed a TV Sales &
Repair business, we opened for business with seating for 75 and our own much
needed parking lot. Our children, Amber & Ryan, became involved in the
business at this time and made many pizzas starting out standing on top of a
case of pizza sauce.
Again in 1983 we felt the push to accommodate our ever-expanding
business. For an entire year, we worked both sides of the business during
the remodeling of our current location, 311 E. Jefferson St. This was the
site of the former Moore Brothers/ Gene Cottingham Chevy dealership. On our
parking lot once stood the Bowl-O-Drome Restaurant & Bowling Alley & a Gulf
Gas Station. We opened to a standing room only crowd in November of 1984.
Tipton and the surrounding communities continue to generously
support Pizza Shack. We have accommodated entire sports teams, Sunday school
classes, wedding rehearsals & class reunions. For 4 summer seasons, Pizza
Shack has been the destination of the Indiana Transportation Museum’s Pizza
Train serving capacity crowds on Saturday evenings.
In December of 2007, our business ownership passed into the capable
hands of Rich Brown, one of the originators of the business. With continued appreciation for your ongoing support, we consider
it a privilege to give you quality service that keeps you and your friends
coming back for more.
Sincerely, Rich Brown
and Management
